Some prints make you happy, even while working through household chores that make you cringe

I love prints… they are the bright spot in a world of black pants. Not that my closet looks like that anymore. Since I started collecting and wearing vintage I have more color and pattern than not. But once upon a time I was a Gap khaki zombie. I have been cleaning my closet out this summer (yes, it is taking me weeks) and I pulled out six pairs of Gap khakis I haven’t worn in forever but kept around anyway as a “staple”. Two pairs had new tags. Seriously. Stay tuned for more on the closet clean out- I can’t believe how hard it is! To stay focused I have been reading closet cleaning tips and even watching Martha clean hers. Boring, but motivating at the same time. Thank goodness for a bright, cheerful vintage purse and up-cycled  vintage dress. Even if I had to wear khakis as some dire punishment I could grab this bag and smile. What item in your closet made you smile lately?

My jeans have really made me smile. I don’t wear them often, but I have a lot of them. Somehow I keep grabbing my (current) favorite pair all the time. I guess that’s why I still have a drawer full.

Your khaki comment reminds me of my middle school. We could only wear khakis or black pants with plain polo shirts. Needless to say I spent 3 years dressed in head to toe black with one orange shirt for exciting days. Lol.

You made me smile with the six khakis discovery. Last year I bought my first pair of khakis at a Banana Republic sale…and wore them once. Hated them!

My thrifted David Meister people print dress is the most smile-inducing garment.

You look great in that vibrant dress, and I covet your purse :)
