I was thrilled to meet Jane of Jacaranda Designs Jewelry, because she just may have the sweetest and most delicate lovelies on the web. I’ve tried to give you a glimpse of the shop’s gorgeousness by sharing my favorite pieces, but you must visit yourself to see them all.
When did you begin creating your lovely jewelry?
I began creating jewelry in 2006 when I enrolled in a jewelry making course at a local college. I decided to open my Etsy Shop in late 2007 when my obsession with making jewelry was getting out of hand!
How do you relax other than the creative process you engage in to make these pieces?
I love to spend a day outside photographing whatever catches my eye. I also enjoy biking, crime fiction, pottering around in the garden and cooking. I have a huge collection of cookbooks.
Do you have a favorite season that inspires you to create?
Without a doubt, summer, when all the colorful flowers are in bloom.
What advice do you have to give to other creative women who haven’t started their own shops but might want to in the future?
Remember to create what you love, not what you think others will love. When it comes to photography, practice, practice, practice. Photographs are key to selling online where a potential customer is unable to handle the product. They want to see several clear photographs with true to life colors of your product. Experiment with different background and props and create an overall theme for your shop with your photos.
Where do you see your shop in three years from now?
Every year, my shop is expanding and three years from now, I would like to be able to rely on Jacaranda Designs as my sole source of income. I’ve recently been setting up an independent website which, in three years. In three years I would love to still be creating unique, whimsical jewelry and have a brand that is easily recognizable.
