Maxi dresses are not standard wear for wildlife rescue operations of any sort. FYI.

Driving down the street yesterday I noticed a tiny gray lump right in the middle of the street, cars passing it on both sides. This always makes me nervous so I turned around (I know… why?) and there was a little fledgling bird in the middle of the street. All feathers and beak, no legs or wings. He stared at me, as did various drivers as they passed. I grabbed a towel from the car and picked him up. Luckily I’ve already read about fledglings, and knew to look for the nest to leave him for mama bird. Unfortunately, I did not know that mama was a Texas Mockingbird, quite possibly the meanest small bird around. As I approached her tree she began dive bombing my head so that I had to bob and weave to place him on the ground. Then I ran to my car, her chasing me all the way. It’s hard to leave fledglings, but unless you are a wildlife rehabilitation expert you have to make the best call. However, my advice is don’t try to juggle a baby bird, wedges, and a maxi dress. That’s just silly- flats and a mini would have been so much easier.

What I wore for bird rescue
Vintage copper necklace & bangle
Clarks wedges, new maxi dress

I’m ashamed to admit that I would have not stopped :-( But I live in the country and see ‘roadkill’ all the time. Thanks for being so thoughtful.

hahahah. well at least it was a successful rescue, and you don’t look even the slightest bit ruffled.

Aww poor little bird. Mocking birds are a pain in the butt. The ones here like to dive bomb our pets or ‘yell’ at me from the fence. Mean things!

I love your necklace. It looks like a robot mouse.

Bless you for stopping to save the baby bird! Praytell where is the maxi dress from? It’s lovely!

You know, I had to go back and look at the tag to make sure. And it was Walmart! I think I shop there just once a year and saw that their maxi dresses were short compared to our fave store, Target. And I need a little help when it comes to dress length.
